Before Hudson, I don’t think I fully realised how many little things come with having a dog in the city: the noise, the subway, apartment living, the lack of a backyard, the extra planning, and the fact that even a “quick outing” is never really that quick 😂 But I also didn’t realise how much joy comes with it. Hudson has become so unfazed by sirens, construction and all the chaos that comes with New York. He’s learnt to be calm on the subway, has made apartment life our normal, and has turned even the most everyday walks into little adventures. And one of the most unexpected parts? How many people you meet!!! Doormen, neighbours, strangers, tourists missing their own dogs. having a dog in NYC makes the city feel so much smaller, warmer and more connected. Some of my favourite moments are the tiny ones: a walk around the block that turns into 10 conversations, finding a quiet patch of park, or just doing city life with my little sidekick beside me 💙 It’s definitely extra effort having a dog in New York… but it’s also brought so much more joy to my everyday life than I ever expected.
