Planning To Buy Dangote Refinery Shares?
Here Is Everything You Need To Know Before You Apply.
DANGOTE
PETROLEUM REFINERY
DANGOTE
PETROLEUM REFINERY
WHERE IDEAS TAKE SHAPE
This is not hype. The Dangote Petroleum
Refinery IPO is officially the largest
share sale in Nigerian and African
history. When the shares eventually list
on the NGX, the exchange's total market
capitalisation will increase by over 30%.
This is a once in a generation event and
it opens tomorrow.
• Share price: N525 per share
• Minimum investment: 10 shares = N5,250
• Total shares offered: 4.1 billion shares
• Total raise target: N2.15 trillion
• Subscription opens: September 14, 2026
• Subscription closes: October 13, 2026
• Refinery valuation: approximately $40 billion
This is the most important thing to understand.
September 14th is the day the subscription
window opens, meaning the day you can apply
for shares. It is not the day the shares list on the
NGX.
After the offer and then closes on October 13, shares will
be allotted and then listed on the exchange. That
is when you will be able to see and trade your
position.
The Dangote Refinery is the largest single train
petroleum refinery in the world with a current
capacity of 700,000 barrels per day. The
proceeds from this IPO will be used to expand
that capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day.
You are buying into an existing operational
business that turned a $476 million loss in 2025
into a $1.82 billion profit. That turnaround is
significant.
Three things must be in place before you can
apply:
1. A funded account on Bamboo, Cowrywise,
Atrinvest 2.0, PiggyVest, or any SEC approved
stockbroker.
2. A CHN and CSCS number linked to your
account. Bamboo and most platforms will help
you set this up.
3. The exact naira amount you want to invest
ready in your account before you apply.
Payment is due in full at the point of application.
You cannot reserve shares without paying.
• Minimum: 10 shares at N5,250
After the minimum, applications go in multiples of
50 shares.
So your options will look like this:
• 10 shares - N5,250
• 60 shares - N31,500
• 110 shares - N57,750
• 210 shares - N110,250
You do not need millions to participate. N5,250
gets you in.
THE RISKS YOU MUST KNOW
! The refinery is still scaling up. Full capacity has
not been reached.
! The stock could experience a "down first then
up" dynamic as investors sell existing NGX
holdings to fund subscriptions.
! Crude oil price volatility affects refinery
margins directly.
! Government fuel pricing policy remains a risk
factor.
! If the offer is oversubscribed you may not
receive the full amount of shares you applied for.
! Fraud warning. The SEC has officially warned
against unauthorised operators soliciting money
for Dangote shares. Only apply through approved
platforms.
OVERSUBSCRIPTION: WHAT IT MEANS FOR
YOU
This offer is expected to be massively
oversubscribed. The private placement in July
2026 was already oversubscribed 3.7 times. If
public demand also exceeds supply, Dangote
Refinery can issue up to 15% more shares than
originally planned subject to SEC approval. But if
demand still exceeds that, your allocation will be
scaled down.
Apply for more than you want to account for this.
The window opens tomorrow. The prospectus is
available. The price is fixed. Everything you need
to make a decision is now in front of you. Read the
prospectus, fund your account, and apply only
through approved platforms.
