Sometimes

Sometimes we think the worst things happen to us for no reason. A woman starts her day as usual. A man sleeps through his alarm. She spills her coffee. Spends a few moments cleaning it up. He's behind schedule before leaving bed. A day that just seems determined to go wrong. She woke up late. He didn't want to get out of bed. The man misses the subway. The woman's car fails to start. He makes it to work. "I'm so sorry I missed the subway." Only to get let go from his job. Neither of them knew that a few extra minutes, a little hesitation, one small decision after another was already changing where they'd end up. She has her interview canceled. She went one way. He went another. They moved through the same city surrounded by thousands of people, of each other. And every inconvenience, every delay, every moment that didn't go according to plan, was narrowing the distance between them. Maybe that's the strange thing about life? We spend so much time trying to understand why something went wrong. And we never stop to wonder where its taking us. Because sometimes, the door that closes in front of you, is the reason you walk through another one. And eventually, they both ended up at the same place. Neither of them planned it. Neither of them expected it. But after everything that had gone wrong that day, this was exactly where they were supposed to be. And maybe that's what the butterfly effect really is. Not knowing that the your life are quietly creating the biggest ones.
