Prime Minister Mark Carney held his first bilateral meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham in Liverpool on Thursday. He attended a soccer match between Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers with Burnham, an ardent Everton supporter. It marked the first time the leaders have met since Burnham became Prime Minister in July. They were expected to talk about closer ties with Europe, NATO and trade. Burnham says Canada and the U.K. have new opportunities ahead of them to co-operate on defence, security, trade and AI. Carney was scheduled to return to France after the game and will give a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Thursday. Footage by The Canadian Press. #Canada #CdnPoli #UnitedKingdom
