Dog in China (WTF) ⬇️ So...Mandarin Chinese doesn't have many unique syllables. In fact, there are only about 400 unique syllables in the WHOLE LANGUAGE! That's why they utilize tones to provide more differentiation for words! In this reel, I introduce a few vocabulary words, namely: 丑 - chǒu - ugly 狗 - gǒu - dog 猴 - hóu - monkey 走 - zǒu - walk 手 - shǒu - hand With the help of a Chinese screenwriter, and utilizing a more ancient style of putting phrases together, we can construct a "tongue twister" that places these syllables together in a fun way. Chǒu gǒu hǒu, shǒu mǒu kǒu, hóu chǒu gǒu, dǒu shǒu zǒu. Why would we do this? NOT so we can memorize some "daily phrase," but rather so we can train our ears and our mouths for TONAL DIFFERENTIATION, alongside various initials and finals. If you learn Mandarin Chinese WITHOUT mastering tones, you are setting yourself up for a world of hurt, dissapointmet, and regret. Trust me! Without mastering tones, you're completely dependent on other people providing effort to reverse engineer what you are trying to say, as opposed to having fluid conversation with you. That's cute in the beginning, and becomes annoying FAST. So, that's why I have this channel! I simultaneously expose my audience to new Chinese words, and also create interesting vocal exercises that are meant to train your mouth and your ear to differentiate tones. When you master tones and pronunciation, you can become professionally fluent in Mandarin Chinese FAST. Professional fluent in Mandarin Chinese = more job opportunities, more income, more potential friends and business partners, improve brain function, and overall a greater sense of adventure in life!
