Never send an email without learning these shortcuts. 1. Ctrl+Shift+M — new email from anywhere. You’re in the calendar, you’re in a matter folder, doesn’t matter. Ctrl+Shift+M opens a blank message from wherever you are. (New Outlook: Ctrl+N.) 2. Alt+S — send without touching the mouse. Ctrl+Enter works in both versions. Pair it with a send delay so you’ve still got the safety net. 3. Ctrl+Shift+V — move to folder. The filing one. Opens Move to Folder, then type the matter name. Filing stops being a Friday job. (Classic only — in new Outlook it’s Alt+H, then M, then V.) 4. Ctrl+E — jump into search. Cursor straight into the search bar. Pair with from: and hasattachment:yes and “can you find the executed version” takes ten seconds at 11pm. One catch: inside a message body Ctrl+E centres your text instead. 5. Ctrl+Q and Ctrl+U — read and unread. Ctrl+Q marks read, Ctrl+U marks unread. Triage 200 emails in one pass, Ctrl+U anything needing real work, and your unread count becomes an actual to-do list.
