A fan-made Baldur's Gate 3 mod called the Act Two Expansion has added an entirely new region to the game, the Chionthar Wilds, and the scope of it is genuinely staggering. The mod expands the Shadow-Cursed Lands with a new explorable area featuring over 30 combat encounters, 70 new items, new quests, new fights, and fully produced cutscenes. It integrates directly into Act Two's existing narrative without breaking the main story, meaning it feels like content that could have shipped with the game rather than something bolted on after the fact. Larian released the full modding toolkit for Baldur's Gate 3 last year and this is exactly the kind of project that toolkit was built for. The mod is available for free on Nexus Mods.
