Keebler (aka the Cookie Monster) was begging me to open the cookie jar.

The video likely worked due to the unusual and expressive appearance of the Oriental Shorthair cat, combined with a relatable scenario of a pet begging for a treat. The humor in the caption, contrasting the cat's demanding nature with its politeness, adds to its shareability.

An Oriental Shorthair cat, named Keebler, sits on a kitchen counter and meows. The cat is described as demanding but polite, as it has never knocked over the cookie jar despite its begging.
