There is an influencer on here named Lauren Elizabeth that is selling these marble pill organizers for $150 on Revolve. I didn't think it was going to be so controversial. Why is it controversial? What's controversial about it? That's why I told you guys it wasn't the best week of my life. This girl purchases this product and she is told that by the end of August she is supposed to receive it. She never does. She reaches out to customer service to get an update. She never hears back. She hops on TikTok, makes a video and says, 'Guys, like, am I being scammed?' Genuinely curious, right? As to maybe other people's experiences or if this was a one-off, kind of just like what's going on. Which then prompts Lauren Elizabeth to go on her Instagram story to kind of, you know, maybe save face, give an update, whatever it is. It was received by a lot of people like tone was off, a little bit snarky, not the way you'd maybe handle that kind of situation. Side note, you can charge whatever you want to for an item, but at the same time, if you're charging luxury prices, please understand that people are going to expect a luxury level customer experience which just was not provided. I'm looking through the comments on this girl's TikTok, and the audacity of her to sell $150 pill organizer that is $36 on Alibaba, okay? And hey, I know that businesses have to make a profit. I have no problem with that. People aren't selling products for the fun of it. I understand that. But at what point does it not become only greedy, but also shameless? Because that is above a 290% markup and almost 300% markup on that item. Mind you, a product that people are using to take medication, something that millions of people are paying a significant amount of money to even purchase in the first place, in a time where people are having to check their bank accounts before purchasing groceries, they're canceling appointments, they're canceling subscriptions and being very intentional about where a dollar is going. When she was releasing the item, she made a video on her TikTok saying that it took over a year to work on. I'm not saying it did not take you a year to create, but the wording of it matters because it was delivered in a way that would make one think that that year went into product development and that you were bringing an original concept to the market as you yourself had created this product. Look, you are free to sell the luxury version of anything, that's just capitalism. But when you're taking something as basic as a pill organizer, charging astronomical prices, positioning it as a year-long passion project, especially at a time when people are already being forced to make impossible choices about where their money is going. You better be selling more than a marble box. And bigger than the box, you better be selling a damn good reason on why people should believe that it is worth four times the price.
