Microsoft has filed a patent for an in-game advertising system that places ads at natural breakpoints in gameplay, after boss fights, cutscenes, completed quests, and between multiplayer rounds. The system is described as "non-interruptive" on the basis that ads only appear at moments where the game is already pausing, rather than cutting into active gameplay. Players who watch the ads would receive credits that can be redeemed for temporary access to games or other in-game benefits. The patent also describes a dynamic system that learns player behaviour over time to optimise when and how often ads are shown. It is worth noting that filing a patent does not mean the feature will ever be implemented, companies patent ideas regularly without acting on them. That said, the filing lands in the same week EA confirmed it wants ads baked into new games from day one, and against the backdrop of game prices hitting $79.99 for standard editions. #xbox #microsoft #xboxseriesx #ashasharma #gamingnews
