The last time El Niño was this bad, 60 million people died. Of course that was in the 1800s, but researchers are saying this year's super El Niño will cause roughly half a million deaths from heat alone. What you should know is that El Niño is a naturally occurring climate pattern that heats up the Pacific Ocean, shifts the jet stream, and causes irregular weather patterns across the world. Although climate change did not cause El Niño, it certainly amplifies its effects. What climate change has done is raise the baseline temperature that has turned this year's El Niño into a super El Niño. It's no longer a question of prevention. I mean, even the United Nations has conceded. It's now about preparation and understanding why this is happening. Climate change is human caused. That's a fact. And we're living in unprecedented times when you have the EPA stripping away environmental protections and governments around the world accelerating the use of fossil fuels. Add in deforestation, data centers, and countless exploitative industries and you get governments around the world that have failed to keep their people safe. So what can you do to prepare? Well, you should rely less on a grocery store. Start with whatever space you have and grow your own food. Those 60 million people that died in 1877, most of that was from famine. Stock up on water. Try build your own water collection systems. Convert to clean energy to become less reliant on a vulnerable grid. We saw thousands of people die in Europe this year because of just that. And follow along to learn what you can do against the climate crisis. Please share to spread the awareness. A super El Niño is here.
