Footage out of Hobbs: A 13-year-old Highland Middle School student is accused of shooting a staff member outside the school Friday morning. The staff member was treated at the scene, taken to a Hobbs hospital, and later transferred to Lubbock. He was reported stable Friday night. The teen allegedly ran from the area but was found a few blocks away and taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Investigators still have not released a motive, details about how the juvenile allegedly got the handgun, or whether there were any warning signs beforehand. Authorities have also not said there was evidence he intended to hurt anyone else. Highland Middle School and nearby Coronado Elementary were placed on heightened security during the response. No students were hurt and no other injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing. #NewMexico #hobbs #local #viral #fyp
