GPT-6.1 Sol vs Claude Opus 5.5: cheaper, but is it worth it? GPT-6.1 Sol is OpenAI's new mid-tier model that dropped yesterday, and on paper it's great. It costs $2 in and $10 out per million tokens right now, a fifth of GPT-6 Astra's price, and OpenAI's own Terminal-Bench chart shows it beating Opus 5.5 for way less per task The catch for me is speed. Not going to lie, it's been slow in Codex. OpenAI's answer is Ultrafast mode, which isn't live for Sol yet, and on Astra it runs 6x the standard price. So you're trading cheap for slow, or fast for expensive That's why I'm sticking with Claude Opus 5.5 for my builds. Which one are you using?
