Why it worked

The video uses a relatable, humorous interaction between a child and an adult to showcase a variety of products, making the product demonstration feel like an authentic, entertaining moment rather than a traditional advertisement.

Summary

A creator and a young boy go through a selection of scented candles at a store, guessing the scents based on the labels. They react to each candle's fragrance in a lighthearted, conversational manner.

Structure

1Creator and child smell a candle
2They guess the scent based on the label
3They move through several different candle scents
4They react to the accuracy of the scent names

Product placement

(a) Walmart candles: The creator and a child smell and identify various scented candles from Walmart. The candles act as the subject of the video, as their scents are described and evaluated. Removing them would remove the entire premise of the video. (b) None.

It smells like you're going on a drive. It's like you're going on a drive on Sunday. A Sunday drive I'm guessing. Well that smells pretty comfortable. Smells cozy too. I think it's cozy comfort. A brownie I'm guessing? No, no, no, no. Cosmic brownies I'm guessing? Oh that's definitely champagne bubbles. Smells like zebras. Maybe cakes? Zebra cakes. Oh I think it smells like a sweater. Mmm, cider and sweater. It smells like peach pie. Not northern, it's southern peach pie.
