3 Things Nobody Tells You About Architecture School 1. Your First Idea Probably Won’t Survive You might think you’ve finally found the perfect concept, then your architecture critique happens. Suddenly, the circulation doesn’t work, the floor plan needs to change, or the concept isn’t coming through. And that’s completely normal. Architecture design is a process. Your project will probably change many times before the final presentation. 2. Explaining Your Design Is Almost as Important as Designing It Having a good architecture concept isn’t enough if you can’t explain why you made your design decisions. You’ll constantly be asked: “Why?” Why this plan? Why this circulation? Why this material? Architecture school teaches you not only how to design, but also how to communicate your design process. 3. You Learn More From Failed Projects Than You Expect Not every architecture project will work the way you imagined. Your concept might fail. Your floor plan might be a mess. Your model might look completely different from what you had in your head. But those failures teach you what to improve in your next project. Architecture school is about designing, failing, learning, and trying again. What’s something you wish someone told you before architecture school? If you’re struggling with design process, follow my account cuz I’ll be documenting my whole design process in series. One project at a time. #architecturestudent #architectureschool #architecturedesign #architecturestudentlife #architecturestudio
