Apparently size really does matter, at least when it comes to IV gauges🩺 When a patient is crashing, the size of the IV catheter changes everything. A 24 gauge IV gives you about 20 mL per minute of flow, while a 14 gauge can push up to 240 mL per minute. That's the difference between fluids technically running, and fluids actually flying in fast enough to make a real difference in an emergency. Here's the full breakdown: 24g, about 20 mL per minute 22g, about 36 mL per minute 20g, about 60 mL per minute 18g, about 90 mL per minute 16g, about 180 mL per minute 14g, about 240 mL per minute In trauma or critical situations, choosing the right gauge isn't just a technical detail, it can genuinely impact how quickly a patient can be stabilized🩺 Save this one, it's a great refresher for trauma training or just understanding how much gauge size actually matters🌴 ✅Follow @drdavidabbasi for More Daily Medical Content & Health Tips!😷Schedule a consultation in Delray Beach!
