I went back and forth about sharing this because it’s pretty personal, and honestly, I never thought I’d be talking about something like this publicly. But if sharing Hugo’s story helps even one person trust their gut when something doesn’t feel right with their dog, then I think it’s worth sharing. 🤍 This had actually been going on for over 6 months. Hugo’s private area wasn’t staying where it should, and he was constantly licking himself. I took him to around 5 different vets, and every time, I was told there was nothing to worry about. But I just couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right. I know Hugo pretty well, and I could tell he was uncomfortable. It was honestly so frustrating because I kept hearing that everything was fine, while I could see that something clearly wasn’t. At our most recent vet visit, I asked them to look into it a little more — and they finally found the issue: a hair ring that had gotten stuck inside. Since the area had been exposed for so long, it had also become swollen, dry, and irritated. He’s now on antibiotics, and for the first time in months, we’re actually treating the problem 🥺🤍 This whole experience has really reminded me how important it is to trust your gut when it comes to your dog. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to ask more questions, get another opinion, and keep looking for answers.
