Here's what the dark web actually looks like. We'll go fast this time but the first thing we need to do is grab our burner laptop. I run an operating system called Tails, and it boots from this flash drive right here. We're gonna click on start Tails. It's an amnesic operating system, so basically forgets everything after you turn off your laptop. We're gonna be using a browser called Tor. And obviously you're gonna have to be connected to the internet. I highly advise against using your own personal home Wi-Fi. Go somewhere public or something. From there we're gonna click connect to Tor. Now it takes a really long time to load, but all you really need to know is that Tor lets you connect to onion links, and it also routes your connection through three different nodes. It's kind of like a VPN. So here's what Tor looks like. Now we can essentially explore some onion links. One thing that I think is super interesting and I want to show you is that the dark web actually has its own social media platforms. Here's an example of one of them it's called Pitch. And here's kind of what an onion link will look like. It's just a bunch of random string of letters with dot onion. But as we can see here Pitch is basically just like an encrypted version of Twitter. So there's really nothing inherently scary or illegal about the dark web itself. What gives it that reputation is the perceived layer of anonymity that allows people to do bad things on it. So don't be one of those people.
