Replying to @nikratamaputri So…is Indonesian REALLY easy? 🇮🇩😅🤣 Explanation 👇 Yes and no. Using the normal Latin alphabet, unchanging verb tenses and genderless nouns make it simpler to start learning. Modifying nouns with imbuhan (prefixes & suffixes) and recognizing double words instead of plurals make it more complicated. Also, learning textbook and formal Indonesian might help you understand the news (if the vocab isn’t too hard), but won’t help you at all in daily conversations. Not only are new slang words created quickly, people mix their Indonesian with their local language/dialect, and use improper, incomplete sentences in conversations…it might take a huge learning curve to shift from textbook to daily Indonesian 😅 BUT, if your goal is to have natural conversations, skip the textbook and formalities, and just immerse yourself in talking to people. Indonesians are so warm and will gladly teach you. Then you’ll realize that daily Indonesian is really easy - just very different than textbook Indonesian. (Or join my online Indonesian course waitlist 👀🇮🇩) TLDR: Paraphrasing the most repeated comments by fellow Indonesians in part 1: “Indonesian is easy but I keep getting bad grades for Indonesian in school.” I think that sums it up nicely. 😅😂 #ind#indonesianh#bahasaindonesian#languagearnindonesian
