Promoted product

Shark Tank

Why it worked

The video leverages a high-profile celebrity appearance (Ninja) on a popular reality show (Shark Tank) to create a viral, relatable moment that naturally leads into a promotional CTA.

Summary

A clip from Shark Tank shows Kevin O'Leary rejecting a business pitch from Ninja, followed by a promotional call to action for the show.

Structure

1Kevin O'Leary rejects the pitch
2Ninja reacts to the rejection
3The judges discuss the confusion
4Promotional CTA for Shark Tank on ABC and Hulu

Product placement

Shark Tank (a) it ACTS — the show's format and judges are the central mechanism of the video, and the video explicitly promotes watching the new season on ABC and Hulu. Removing it would change the entire video. Hulu (a) it ACTS — it is named as the streaming destination for the show. Removing it would remove the call to action. ABC (a) it ACTS — it is named as the network for the show. Removing it would remove the call to action.

Call to action

Watch the new season of SHARK TANK Wednesdays at 10/9c on ABC. Stream on Hulu.

I'm going to have to say that I'm out, but I wish you the very, very best. The numbers here tell the story. You are not worth $5 million. I would own 110% of this company right now for $250,000, which I don't want to do. I'm out. Thank you, Kevin. And that's me being nice. I can't believe... You were very nice. That anger management is doing wonders, Kevin. Oh my god. Wonderful. Look, I'm confused a little as well. Like, I don't know who I'm actually going to even be giving this to. You've got something that tastes great, but maybe there's a few changes that you can make.
