One piece of paper is all you need to crack a combination lock. Slide it between the dials, spin the dials slowly, and suddenly you'll feel the paper slip a little deeper. That's because you just hit a notch in the hidden mechanism. Repeat this for every dial, but that's not the actual code yet. You've found the exact location of the mechanism's notches. So, what do you do now? Decode the manufacturer's math. This trick works mainly on cheap locks and the rule is simple. The notches have to line up with the internal locking bar. And since its position depends on the lock's design, you have to test every possible offset one by one.
