You were there for the first day you brought them home. For the quiet mornings, the long nights, the belly rubs, the favorite treats, and all the ordinary moments that became extraordinary because they were yours. And if saying goodbye is too painful to witness, that does not mean you love them any less. You are allowed to grieve. You are allowed to be overwhelmed. You are allowed to take care of yourself, too. Your pet’s life was not defined by one final moment in a veterinary hospital. It was defined by all the love they knew because of you.
