🇻🇳 VIETNAM’S NEW LONG THANH AIRPORT: WHAT TRAVELERS CAN EXPECT! Big changes are coming to Vietnam’s aviation industry! Long Thanh International Airport, just outside Saigon in Dong Nai Province, is preparing for a gradual rollout starting in December 2026, with plans to reach full initial operating capacity by October 2027. ✅Here’s how the proposed rollout will work! * PHASE 1: DECEMBER 2026 – MARCH 2027 The airport is expected to start small, handling around 20–30 flights daily, mainly domestic and shorter international routes. Initial plans include approximately 366 flights per week, with Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet among the airlines preparing to operate. Domestic cargo services are scheduled to begin December 24, while international passenger flights are expected to follow in January 2027. * PHASE 2: APRIL – OCTOBER 2027 This is when things really start picking up! The airport is expected to operate at around 50% of its initial designed capacity, with more flights connecting Vietnam to Australia, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Travelers can expect a growing selection of international and domestic routes as airlines gradually expand their operations. * PHASE 3: FROM OCTOBER 2027 The goal is to reach 100% of the airport’s initial designed capacity, with a much larger network of international and domestic flights. Cargo services are also expected to expand, including connections to Europe and the United States. ✅ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TRAVELERS? This is a huge step forward for Vietnam! More international connections, increased airport capacity, and new opportunities for tourism and business. But remember, not every flight will move to Long Thanh overnight. The transition will happen gradually, so always double-check which airport your flight departs from or arrives at. These are the proposed timelines, and schedules may change as the airport prepares for operations.
