People with disabilities deserve to fly, too! We have six children, and our son Griffin has Angelman Syndrome, a rare disorder that causes severe developmental delays. During our flight, Griffin was happily playing with his window shade when the woman in front of us reached back, grabbed it, and told him, “No more.” We did everything in our power to keep Griffin calm and comfortable throughout the flight. He wasn’t hurting anyone. He was simply enjoying his window. Disability inclusion means accepting that not everyone experiences the world the same way. A little patience and compassion go a long way.
