A developer called omonkeyzz has got Cyberpunk 2077 running directly inside Chrome, and it is not cloud streaming. The game runs entirely on your own CPU and GPU using WebGPU and WebAssembly to execute the engine inside the browser, with game assets downloading in the background as you play. No installation, no launcher, no client - just Chrome. The technical achievement here is hard to overstate. WebGPU only became widely supported in browsers in the last couple of years, and running a game of Cyberpunk 2077’s complexity through a browser tab using your own local hardware rather than remote servers is something most developers would have considered impossible until very recently. The implications go well beyond one game - if this approach can be made stable and accessible, it could fundamentally change how games are distributed and played. #cyberpunk2077 #cyberpunk #cyberpunkmod #nightcity #gamingnews
