Just seven years ago, this was a rural pound closed to the public, where nearly every animal who entered never made it back out, but since we stepped in, not one animal has been euthanized for space. In 2023, we purchased the pound from the city of Osawatomie and began reimagining what a shelter could be, turning a place once filled with heartbreak into our very own Lighthouse Lane, a little neighborhood of hope. Meet Rascal and Taz, two sweet souls others gave up on, who now share one of our tiny homes with heat, air conditioning, music, their own private yard, cameras, and staff caring for them from 7 in the morning until 7 at night. And here's old man Monty, rescued from a kill shelter, wonderful with other dogs, happiest cuddling with his humans, and still hoping someone will choose him for a forever home. Then there's beautiful Oshi, who is a little selective about her dog friends but has so much love to give, and with the right introductions and an understanding family, she could absolutely share a home with another dog, so we simply give her the space she needs here. Because we believe rescue should be about more than keeping animals alive, it should be about giving them a life worth living right now, whether they're waiting for adoption or simply enjoying another beautiful day knowing they're safe, they're loved, and they belong, and that is rescue reimagined. #RescueReimagined #LighthouseLane #ShelterDogsDeserveBetter #DifferentDoesntMeanDisposable #AnimalRescue
