86 year old Holiday Cactus Rehab Part 1

86 years ago. 86 years. So talk to me about where he lives. He lives in a north window. Okay. Um you know. I'm going to see a sunroom with a lot of other light but not you know. Okay. It's on the north side of the house so doesn't get a lot of light. Right. Or no sunlight. North is going to be the weakest of the four directions. So there is a chance that he might do better in a different window. Okay. A west or a south if you can think about if you might have that available. All right. All right. I'm going to take him out of the box. I'm going to make sure you can see it's been a long time since he's been repotted. All right. We got him out. Okay. So how long would you say has it been since he's been repotted? I have no clue. No clue? So would you say it's probably been more than 10 years? It could be. Could be. How did you come across him? How did I come across him? It's my mom's. Oh. Or start off of my mom's. And my mom got this start when she had my her first child. Which would have been 86 years ago. 86 years. So what I'm going to do is get him out of here. We'll take a look at the roots. I'm going to assume he's going to go into the next size up. Oh I would think so yeah. But it's all dependent on the roots and what the roots look like. So if we have any root rot and we have to work away at that he could go down a size he could stay in this size. I'm going to definitely get him a new pot. Oh yeah. Um but it will have drainage. We always do nursery pots and it seems like this does have drainage. The water come out the bottom here. Yep. Okay. So we want to have him in a situation where he can get rid of any excess water. And then is there anything else that you want me to do to him? Do you want me to trim anything up? You like You can Well he's got a couple extra long branches. You can cut cut those back a little bit. Yeah just sort of. Okay. And then do you want those pieces when you come to pick him up? You know what? Yeah. I would. Because I thought about that. I thought should I take anything off at home? I thought I'll let them do it. Yeah. And do you have kids and grandkids? Yep. You could always I mean they're in Milwaukee and Oregon but Will they be coming home for the holidays? I hopefully. Yeah. Well then you'll have some pieces for them so you can continue to share. Yep. Yep. And it's also a good backup plan because I I can't guarantee Oh and I thought about that too. I thought do I take them off before I take it up there? But yeah.
