Sony is messaging some US PS5 owners with an offer of up to $400 for a console they no longer use. PlayStation app users are reportedly receiving notifications to trade in a standard PS5 and two DualSense controllers, with the money paid directly into their bank account. The trade-in doesn’t go through Sony itself. It runs through refurbished electronics marketplace Back Market, which handles the valuation, shipping and payment. The $400 is a maximum, and the final amount depends on the condition of the console and controllers. The offer comes as demand for consoles climbs ahead of GTA 6, with used PS5 Pro units reportedly listed for as much as $1,400. It follows a similar move from Microsoft, which recently offered inactive Xbox Series X|S owners up to $375 back at Best Buy. Sony hasn’t commented on why it’s running the offer. #playstation5 #ps5 #psn #gamingnews
