Hook

Here's how to make Bible-based content if you're a Christian creator, or you want to be a Christian creator and start making Bible-based content. Here's what I specifically do for videos such as this one that got 3 million views on my other profile. Let me show you. I have a bunch of stuff I want to show you, so stick around. The first thing you need to know is you need to pick a biblical passage you're familiar with. One that you know really well, one that you've studied, maybe even taught through it, okay? The second thing you're going to do is once you pick a biblical passage, is you're going to seek to understand that. This is not a conversation on hermeneutics, it's studying. Just interpret that passage correctly, understand the main point. That's the second thing I do is I understand the main point of whatever passage I'm going through. Number three, I look for certain things in the text that are going to really draw in the viewer and get their attention. I'm going to essentially look for a tension in the text. It's going to be related to the main point of that passage. I'm going to look for a seeming contradiction, something that looks like an apparent contradiction that's related to the main point of the passage. Something that I'm going to look for a common misconception that people often have about that passage and the main point of it. I'm going to look for a confusing statement that people might stumble over and really misunderstand. I'm going to look for a common pain point that's related to that main point of the passage, meaning what other believers struggle with in relation to the main point. So if you watch that video that got 3 million views that I showed in the beginning, that video was on Matthew chapter 6. And so what I did was I picked the passage, I read until I understood the main point, which is how to pray, right, how not to pray. The third thing I I looked for and thought through and meditated on was anything I could use to essentially hook the viewer in as I'm going through the scripture. What I found was a common pain point, which is that a lot of believers don't know how to pray or they're insecure about their prayer life, right? So I took that information and that data, thought through it, and then I related it to the main point of the text, which is about how not to pray. And so I introduced the video essentially by saying, look, if you want to pray well and not pray wrong, you know, here's what you do. I think that's what how it started. But the point is, I found something that would engage the viewer long enough to stick around and hopefully give them something of value at the end. Right, so so from that main point or from that, yeah, that tension or that pain point that I found, I related it to the viewer and then around that that pain point, I created a hook. I created some kind of engaging first sentence that would really draw them in and make them want to keep watching. So I remembered how the video opened. It was, "Be careful not to do this when you pray." And so what that does for the for the viewer is it helps them understand there's a wrong way to do this. I don't want to do that, so I should stick around so I know how to do it right. And then boom, you give them value using the text.
