Hook
So Lockheed Martin just dropped a sick outline of a jet to their Instagram story, which was part of their collection of Instagram stories celebrating the 80th anniversary of their Skunk Works division. And Skunk Works is Lockheed Martin's top secret division for their most advanced, exotic, and secretive programs. And there is a lot of speculation that this could be the outline of their next NGAD jet. Now, NGAD stands for Next Generation Air Dominance, which is an Air Force program looking for 6th generation fighters with the current goal to replace the F-22 Raptor, which means enhancing the capabilities already available from the F-22 Raptor, but also people are anticipating design capabilities such as potential use of directed-energy weapons such as a laser CIWS, and human-systems integration, such as a virtual cockpit with helmet-mounted displays and also advanced stealth capabilities. For example, advanced stealth could be achieved by methods such as locating the exhaust on the upper surface of the rear fuselage, which would shield the nozzles from infrared sensors shown by this concept art. As well, these new jets are expected to cooperate with unmanned aircraft as their loyal wingmen, which is pretty sick. We've heard rumors of this aircraft flying before with Air Force officials saying the flight was truly magical. And Lockheed has absolutely been hyping up this aircraft by doing things like posting historical moments but adding of its time. So I, for one, can't wait to see what they reveal.
