today is my first day as a software engineer at Google who also just moved to New York City. Long story short: my apartment looks like an Amazon warehouse. No one warns you about how long for your life to materialize when you move. Like, tell me why I had to put my life on hold for one of these? Anyway, I started the day with breakfast because I'm not one of those "black coffee, no food" people. But respectfully, leave me alone. We're not required to go into the office on the first day. So I work from my apartment lounge. Since my desk setup is currently not showing my screen because I enjoy keeping my job, but day one is just access and intros. No real work yet. But trust me, once the chaos and pushing to you wish you could go back to clicking around in Gmail and setting up 1:1s. After work, I went to IKEA. My go-to adult playground where I can roam around like an NPC. Something about feeling like a Sim here is oddly comforting. I really needed stuff for my apartment, but also I really needed those meatballs. Ended the day with a lot of organizing. I'm trying to appreciate the mundane. Everything is an experience. Not only things that you have to spend money and plan for. Life is still happening even when you're not doing anything special. Next up is me actually going to the office. Ok bye.
