🌾 The Man Behind SPUD — My Grandpa, DelRay Holm 🌾 A lot of people ask where SPUD really comes from. The truth is — this didn’t start with crypto, tokens, or technology. It started with my grandpa, DelRay Holm. DelRay Holm was a legend in the potato world — one of the larger and most well-known potato farmers in southeast Idaho. The quality of spuds he grew was second to none, and the work ethic behind them was just plain crazy. Sunup to sundown, day after day — farming wasn’t a job to him, it was who he was. Before all of that, DelRay proudly served our country in the Korean War. That experience shaped the man he became — disciplined, tough, selfless, and deeply loyal to the people around him. He carried those values for the rest of his life, both in the field and beyond. In the 1970s, he stepped up as Chairman and National Potato Director for the NFO (National Farmers Organization), fighting for growers big and small all across the country. He wasn’t in it for power or recognition — he was in it because he believed farmers deserved fairness, respect, and a real voice. And that’s just who he was. DelRay helped anyone and everyone he could. If someone needed a hand, he showed up. If someone was getting pushed around, he spoke up. He believed in doing what was right — even when it wasn’t easy. Let’s just say it straight: They don’t make guys like that anymore. SPUD exists because of him. The values. The grit. The fight for growers. The belief that farmers deserve better.
