May I introduce to you… my daughter, Bunny. I’m back to work after 3 months off, but first, I wanted to share a personal update. Last you saw me here, I was waiting for labour to start. My due date was Black Friday. I was 41 weeks and 5 days when contractions finally started. I didn’t want to be induced. I didn’t want to schedule a c-section. I wanted to let her choose the time that she wanted to come. And I really wanted a VBAC after my first turned into an emergency c-section. I wanted all the things I didn’t get the first time - skin to skin, a short hospital stay, no NICU time, no infection. I wanted it different this time. So we waited. It was a relatively uncomplicated, quick labor. There was a moment where I had a constant pain in my abdomen, and my doctor gave me 20 mins to push or else it’d be a c-section… but we did it. She arrived the morning of December 8th, a Spanish holiday (ironically, the day of Immaculate Conception 😏). I got the immediate skin to skin time. She got to lay on my chest for hours. Her brother met her and loved her. And I was already picturing going home, and spending the holidays with my little family around the Christmas tree. But unfortunately, that pain in my abdomen didn’t go away.
