I didn't wanna get one yet... Because I HATE

I didn't wanna get one yet... Because I HATE actual performance differences between all the different Nintendo Switch's. Now I am a Nintendo girly at heart and I have the original Switch here, the OLED model and the Switch 2 which I just got recently and have fallen in love with, okay? But we have some big pricing differences between the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original generation, so let's go over the performance differences and if it's worth it. First, the OG Switch had a 6.2 inch 720 pixel LCD display and it could output up to 1080p on a TV or projector or monitor. It also had the flimsiest, crappy plastic kickstand. I literally accidentally popped it off when I was setting up for this video. One thing I really hated about the original Switch was that little kickstand. And then they gave us the OLED, which basically just gave us an OLED screen, a much better kickstand that took over the whole entire back plate and was like a light metal material. Definitely felt much sturdier than the original kickstand. But everything inside this, except a slightly better battery, the original Switch battery was really, really bad, this one had a little bit better of a battery. Everything else was the same. So performance wise, the OLED and the original Switch, exactly the same. The OLED is essentially hardware that's eight to nine years old, also. And when the Switch 1 came out, the hardware was honestly already a little dated, as Nintendo tends to do, but it is what it is. Now, the Switch 2 is actually a generational leap and honestly a multi-generational leap. Like if you want to talk about how smartphones incrementally improve, going from this to this is like going from like a 2016 smartphone to a 2025 smartphone. That's the difference in how they feel. Like I think that's a pretty good analogy. The Switch 2 has a 7.9 inch 1080p display, although it is LCD. I'm gonna assume we get an OLED model of the Switch 2 in the future, but I personally don't think it's gonna be anytime soon. So, it's got HDR, 120Hz variable refresh rate, 256GB of faster UFS storage, and can output up to 4K when docked, which is a huge leap between this one and this one. One of the really big differences for gameplay is the differences in RAM. In the originals, we had 4GB of RAM. In the Switch 2, we have 12GB of RAM. More RAM is responsible for a lot of the differences that we'll see while we're playing between the two. You get the ability to have more textures, you get the ability to have more open world, bigger world gameplay. More data, more memory, and much more stable performance, especially with like heavier, bigger games. The Switch 2 also supports DLSS and ray tracing, which is really incredible for a handheld device to have those things because it can let you play things and have them look a lot better without sacrificing performance to do so because it's using an upscaling feature to do that. So we get really nice and sharp image quality and graphics, and then realistic lighting and reflections like on water and things like that. It just makes games really pop and look really nice. The Switch 2 is a console that Nintendo has put out that is actually giving developers more technical headroom to make better games, to do bigger and better games, which as someone who loves Nintendo, I am very excited about because there are a lot of different franchises and titles in the Nintendo world that I would love to see just done better. And I'm very, very excited for what's going to happen on this console. The Switch 1's ran for so long and so many things were throttled on these machines. Like they had to remove texture and smooth things out and you'd see things pop in and out and stutter because there were a lot of compromises made to either have like a better, bigger game on a Switch 1 or to port something over to a Switch 1 where things would just be lesser than most every other console out there, pretty much every other console out there. So, is it worth the pricing differences? Because when the Switch 1's came out compared to the Switch 2 coming out, there's a few hundred dollar difference there. Now, Nintendo is in the business of selling consoles, they're also in the business of selling games, so it's in their best interest to price the Switch as low as they possibly can so they can sell more games. The reason why the Switch 2 is as expensive as it is is honestly because of inflation, tariffs, and AI. And AI specifically affecting the cost of RAM. And it's been very difficult to be someone who wants RAM or storage or anything like that. It's not a very good time to want to build something at the moment. So is it worth it? I think it is. I also think that if it's out of your budget, wait, save up for it. It's not going anywhere. This console is going to be around for a very long time. It's fine if you have to wait to get it. You don't need to get it right now if that's not in your economical best interest. But if you're a Nintendo fan and you like playing Nintendo games, I absolutely think that it's worth it. And I think that you will notice a very big difference between this and this. Now, a couple caveats. One of the reasons why I didn't wanna get one yet is because I hate this basic color and I hate the blue and red and I wish that there were other Joy-Con options and I wish that there were just other color options. I had really hoped that by the time a Switch 2 exclusive came out that I just HAD to play, there would be other colors of this out and it just didn't pan out that way. Also, much like the OG Switch, the battery life on the Switch 2 is not the best in handheld mode. Luckily I play with it plugged in a lot on a projector, so it doesn't bother me a ton. I'm not often playing in handheld mode long enough that the battery runs out, but I could see that being annoying for some, so having a battery supply nearby is pretty good if you're going to be playing this in handheld mode all the time. And I would say that that is probably going to be a pretty major caveat for some people, but that was the same exact case for the OG Switch and we bought these and played the heck out of them. There's still not an actual announcement date for when that game is going to come out, but that is probably my most anticipated game for the Switch 2 and it's supposed to come out later this year, so Nintendo, please give me a date.
