Y Combinator so YC just released their startup request list for 2026 so here's what Silicon Valley wants you to build quick disclaimer you can still get into YC even if your idea isn't on this list it might just be a lot harder and besides even if you're not interested in VC money this list can still be useful if you're looking for what to build so let's get into it there are over a dozen ideas and I placed them into broadly four buckets the first one being attacking incumbent SaaS basically there are a ton of legacy SaaS solutions like Salesforce ERPs and chip design software and YC is telling you to go take their lunch basically build the AI native version of these products not just sticking a chatbot on something built in 2010 they're also looking for AI startups that will pretty much replace entire services instead of AI helping you do the thing they just want AI to do the thing the second bucket is building for agents the prediction is agents will become the main users of the internet currently the internet is built with buttons and dashboards but that's not how AI agents interact with the world what agents need are APIs and machine readable interfaces so basically we're going to have to rebuild every category of software to support AI agents bucket No. 3 is the physical world and this is one of the most interesting ones they're looking for AI in places like agriculture to reduce the use of pesticides they're also looking for solutions in the defense space that will help countries defend against swarms of drones and generally any other AI applications with hardware in the real world fourth and final bucket is the infrastructure layer that will support all of this progress so we're talking about inference chips for AI agents and then chips in space and to support all of this they're looking for products that will help rebuild the US supply chain to finally match that of China now the catch is these spaces are a lot you're dealing with real regulation and real world friction you can't just vibe code your way through them in a weekend honestly I think that's the real point instead of trying to build the hundredth to-do list app or another habit tracker go pick harder problems to solve because those are the ones that are actually worth solving anyways if you want the full list comment "YC" and I'll send it over to you follow for more videos like this
