NVIDIA investing $150B/year in Taiwan

NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang was in Taiwan this morning and he dropped some big announcements. He said that NVIDIA is planning to spend $150 billion a year in Taiwan going forward. And as part of this announcement, NVIDIA is breaking ground on a brand-new Taiwan headquarters called Constellation. This campus will open in 2030 and house 4,000 employees, which is roughly four times NVIDIA's current footprint. Jensen called Taiwan the epicenter of the AI revolution. Taiwan is home to companies like TSMC, which basically manufactures all of the most advanced AI chips in the world, including for NVIDIA, AMD, not to mention Taiwanese companies like Foxconn and Quantra assemble AI servers. So the entire AI supply chain runs through this one island. And that's why there's also some geopolitical risk when it comes to China and Taiwan, but that's a topic for another day. The Taiwanese hit record highs and TSMC stock alone is up 4% this morning, by the way. Speaking of Taiwan and NVIDIA and China, there's an interesting brewing right now. Taiwanese officials just arrested three people last week for allegedly smuggling NVIDIA AI chips to remember, China has import of NVIDIA chips. So now there's a growing black market to get them into China. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more headlines like this moving forward. And Netflix, a narco-style show but for AI chips.
