the biggest threat to your skincare business isn't competition. It's the fact that you are the only one who knows how to make your products. Last week I was in the lab making 70 pieces of foot body butter for one of my former students. When I realized there's a lesson in this story. If you're enrolled in my formulation training, she already started her brand but needed more insight and knowledge. She was making whipped body butter, body oils, scrubs, soaps and steadily building her business. Then she relocated abroad. Now let's be honest for many small brands, that's where your story usually ends. The business slows down or stops completely because the owner is no longer around to make the products. But that wasn't her story. A few months after relocating, she reached out to me. Not because she wanted a new formula, not because she forgot how to formulate. She simply wanted her Ghana business to continue operating. And because she had properly documented formulations, ingredients specifications, supplier details and SOPs, I was able to step in and produce her product exactly the way she used to. I've made the first batch, the second batch and as I'm making 70 pieces of quick body butter for her again. Think about that for a second. She's in another country, yet her products are still being made consistently back home. She's no longer just selling her brand is supplying products. Her brand is creating opportunities. Her brand is growing beyond her physical presence. Everybody wants a skincare brand, but very few people are building brands that can operate without them standing over every mixing bowl saying, add some more, add some. Some people are busy protecting formulas they copied from WhatsApp groups and the internet. Meanwhile, the real flex is being able to hand your formula to another trained formulator or lab and get the exact same products made. That's how businesses grow, that's how businesses survive, and that's how businesses scale. Anyway, what do I know? I'm just here making 70 pieces of whipped body butter for a student who relocated and still has a brand running in Ghana. Skincare and hair care formulation. Don't just learn how to mix ingredients. Learn how to create formula systems and products that can outgrow you and support. So if you're ready to stop guessing and start formulating, send me a DM and let's get started.
