HOW I FUNDED MY BUSINESS -£20,000 This order cost me £20,000 pounds And I'm going to show you exactly how I was able to afford it without having any investors or rich uncles. So if you're trying to grow a product based business while bootstrapping and keeping full ownership, this is how we're going to scale up our businesses this year. The first step, and probably the hardest, is saving enough cash to purchase MOQ, minimum order with your supplier. For me, reaching that point meant reinvesting almost every pound back into SHYNE while we would still just be selling those durags. Those profits eventually develop first production order. Once that first order sold through, I tracked exactly how long it took. That data helped me forecast demand and understand how much cash I needed for the next bigger order. Only after consistent sales over a set period, I made the decision to finance our next production run through a lender called Lovy. The key here was making sure that the repayment period matched our sell-through rate, so by the time repayments were due, most of the inventory had already been sold, meaning we generated enough cash to repay the loan while also keeping enough profit on top for the next production order. It's literally as simple as that. Fund the first run yourself, finance the next, repeat and repeat. Follow for more insights into building a product based business.
