This is how much it actually cost me to launch my first hair care product. And today it's become a best seller and got on to win multiple beauty awards. So if you're building a product based business and want to know what was actually worth the money, this video will save you. First up, packaging and design, £900 a piece. I always knew one day SHYNE would be competing with the big brands. So I hired a design agency to create a brand identity and packaging design that will help us stand out. Next, £200 on packaging sample. This was non-negotiable. I needed to make sure the quality of the packaging was high before approving the bulk order. Then came the bulk packaging order, £7,500. This was heavy, but 100% worth it. The quality had to match the quality of the product inside. After that, £2,520 on formulation and testing. We actually got a really good price for this. This covered developing the formula from scratch and making revisions until I was happy with the final product. Then, £1,200 on product photography. This was one of the best investments I made because these photos have ended up in magazines, on retail websites and pretty much everywhere we sell. And finally, the biggest one, £8,000 for the first production run of curl cream. This brings us to a total of £20,000 before we made a single sale. But follow for more breakdowns of what it takes to build a brand from scratch.
