Still Using Widal Alone?

Found an interesting typhoid screening method at WHX Lagos 2026! 🔬 Many of you may have seen my previous post where I explained why the Widal test is not the most reliable screening method for typhoid fever because it can produce false-positive results. At the exhibition, I came across the Sicuro Salmonella Typhi Antigen Test by @DCL , which uses a stool sample to detect Salmonella Typhi antigens. Unlike antibody-based tests, antigen tests aim to detect components of the bacteria itself, which may provide additional information when evaluating a possible active infection. What also caught my attention is that it provides results much faster than waiting for a stool culture, which is often considered the reference method but can take several days.
