Many people assume the greatest advantage of Harvard, MIT, Stanford, and the Ivy League is the curriculum. It is not. The books can be purchased. The lectures can be watched. The knowledge can be learned elsewhere. The real advantage is the environment. You are surrounded by ambitious people. People with large goals. People building companies, conducting research, solving difficult problems, and pursuing ideas that most people never consider. When that becomes your daily environment, your standards change. Your thinking changes. Your behavior changes. What once seemed exceptional begins to feel normal. Human beings adapt to their surroundings. Put average people in an extraordinary environment and, over time, many begin producing extraordinary results. Not because they became different people overnight.
