I am 20 years old, I am a server, I work 5 days a week. I just got paid $2,200 and I am going to show you exactly what I do with it. Out of the gate, $1,500 goes straight into investments. I will usually cut that in half, do half in regular investments and then half in my Roth IRA. That is literally the key to making money in the stock market. Most people just spend all their money and invest later. I invest straight out of the gate and then spend all my fun money later. So then about like $100 goes to gas, of course. And then I have about $200 that I use for fun money, I guess. Really food and shopping is what I spend my money on. And at least $400 stays in my checking account. I do love keeping larger numbers of money in my checking account as well, just so I can spend big chunks of money if I ever have to. I want to buy concert tickets, if I want to go on a trip, I have money just sitting there that I am able to use. And even sometimes, I don't use as much of my fun money, more money in my checking account to randomly add more money to invest if I can. I don't have that many priorities at home, use that to my full advantage. Still have enough money to have fun while still investing.
