All my successful friends want to go back to retail jobs

Generally this might be one of the most controversial takes I've ever had, okay? So, as somebody who has done a 95 and somebody who has been a founder had their own business, I can honestly say hands on heart, if I was to get a next job, it would be working in retail. Now, let me explain because I want to dive into this, okay? Because recently I've been catching up my friends and I have friends who are, you know, mid senior level established, you know, 95s. And I have friends who are creatives, like your presenters, your content creators, for videogames and every time we go for like a little chat, a little lunch, we keep on talking about this desire to go back to retail. which sounds so random because people might be thinking, well why would you want to go back to retail when you're established? So what I've gathered is the people who do 9 to5 right now, like the who are doing 9 to5 have reached that mid-senior level. They're looking fed up off their 9 to5 for a multitude of reasons, whether it's the fact that they feel like their job is semi, they feel like there's no guaranteed outcomes, like let's say you are a media manager. There's no prospects to be a social media director. You're just always a social media manager even if you move on to different companies. There's literally no flexibility and if you want to even try to have a side hustle or do some sort of other project, it's looked down upon, meaning that if you're looking like you're spending too much time doing that. Next minute you know, you're going to be put on a pit plan and you know, you're manager's coming after you. And it's a lot of anxiety, it's a lot of stress, financially, they're not paying that much anyway these days, you know, unless you're like super super senior or maybe you're in like different industries like tech. Even when you are in those industries like tech, there's so many layoffs. Like I know so many people who have literally been laid off in the last month. Also want to add here that even if you make your way to the top, the people are are struggling. Have you seen directors? When was the last time your director actually spent time with their family? Like they are working like dogs. They are killing themselves, you know, because of the stress. They don't have any flexibility. So it's like if you do decide to climb the ladder, make all that money. You have to sacrifice time and enjoyment. You're in the at 6:00 a.m. and you leave at 9:00 p.m. and I'll be honest, I love people want to do that. And then for my creative friends, the industry is so woshi. Sometimes you're books in busy and sometimes you're not. It's like constant up and down, up and down. And as a founder, I can say the same. And because of these reasons, a lot of people, and I'm talking mid 20s, are looking to get back into retail. And the reason they want to get back into retail is because retail is a job that can be flexible. Retail is a job that allows you to work on your side hustle content creation, separate business. It also comes with less stress. Let's just be so for real. Yes, customers are annoying, but it doesn't take up as much mental capacity. So many friends are work in marketing, particularly social media and that creative capacity that they're using for their 95, they'd rather use it in their own social media. Now, I want to be clear, I'm not just talking any old retail job. I'm talking where where think you're strategically here. Like I've heard people talk about going work in a casino because if you work in a casino, you're going to get a lot of clients. So say you're trying to have a business on the side in that you're going to meet people who have money and I know someone told me a story that someone was working in a casino and she got her real estate license, right? And all of those clients that she had at the casino then turned into her clients when she was doing real estate which she was doing and studying on the side whilst working in the casino. Like literally, me and my friend were brainstorming trying to just get any random job at like a David Lloyd because you know, they'll be great people there to network with, yeah, we know, without coming across annoying, but it's a good environment to be in and there would be perks to working there. working in some form of luxury hotel. The people you could meet would be amazing and you still be studying, you know, for whatever or doing your content creation or starting your business or whatever it is, gives you a break and you're able to meet new people. As long as we've known, you know, when you think of retail you think of doing it at 16, 17, 18. It's kind of like a must have like you have to do retail, you need to get experience. I actually feeling empowered to say I'm in my mid 20s, right? I've had a night to five. I've done a business, whatever it is and I I'm choosing to go into retail because it makes sense for my lifestyle. There's something so empowering about it. I don't know. I have to add that some of us rushed into careers because in school you're told what do you want to do, what do you want to do? So by the time you turn 25, you're like, you know what? I've been studying for this job and I've got it and I don't want it anymore. And I actually think could provide people with a break to just reset whilst getting paid and a lot less stress. I don't know. I'm just going to be the first to say it. I think that doing a specialized job. I don't really know how to work it, but what I mean is like a strategic, that's it. We'll go with strategic retail job like working in a casino hotel, expensive gym and doing a on the side or trying to like expand your creative career, whatever it is, could be a new like hack to this life. I don't know, I don't know, but I just had to say it because it's been too many times. I've met up with a friend and they're like, you know, I'm considering going to a retail job. And they're looking at me thinking I'm going to laugh and I'm like, girl, Haven't we all? Now we haven't done it yet. But honestly, like I could go on about this for ages, but let me know if you are a mid-20s established professional or a creative doing your own thing, and you've considered going to retail, because if so, gather in the comments, cuz this could be a new thing, this could be a whole new movement, and I said it first.
