Chi Is at the heart of everything we do
Yo-Chi cracked the code that kills every food business... labour. And I don't mean they pay people less. I mean that they built the stores so the stores doesn't need many people in the first place. So here's the fun part. When you walk into a Yo-Chi, this place, if you have been a rock, it feels like a treat. It feels like freedom. It feels like freedom. I get to make my perfect yogurt combo. But behind the scenes, it's topping heaven tbh. Just control yourself and think of your wallet. Basically a genius operating system. Because you don't just buy serve it. You choose toppings, you portion it, you finalize it, and you take it to the checkout, which means the customer is actually doing a bunch of that in most food businesses, staff members. The staff's job isn't make the product all day. In Yo-Chi's case, the staff's job becomes keep the running, keep the toppings topped up, keep the space clean, keep the flow moving, and help when something goes wrong. And that's a different most food businesses. It is not labour heavy. It is light touch operations. So here are three lessons from Australia's favorite frozen yogurt business that every founder should steal. Lesson number one. #1 Customers just want to feel in control. The customer feel in control and they will happily do the work for you. Think about this. And this really applies including Ikea as another self-service. Doesn't like effort. Do it right, it can actually feel like customization. It's playful, it's fun. And that's the trick. You turn labor into an experience. And less. Number two, design the system so humans handle exceptions only, not the default path. Most businesses burn money because staff are required for every single transaction. Yo-Chi's happy path runs without constant human involvement. So does Ikea. Staff only step in when needed. And lesson three from Yokai scale like software. If your product is self-serve, your growth ceiling isn't. Can we hire more people? Are the machines working? Is the station stocked and can people move through fast? And that's why the Yo-Chi model scales so well. So follow for more business lesson videos.
