When I went to my matric dance, I think I spent less than 1,000 rand. The suit I was wearing was like 700 and I took an All Star and a taxi because at the time I didn't have a car. And my classmates, they came with Bentleys and all. But the thing is, they drop us off at home. Then after, they come back. 'Cause I thought to myself, 'I will not go with nothing at home.' There's nothing at home. Exactly. Tina pella, you see me when I was younger, there was a quarter and the quarter was still famous. You would find a public school, you'd find a CVS day, there were DMDs, there were a skipper set 1,000 rand with the money, we would pressure our parents to give us the money and I was like to myself, 'My parents did the best that they could.' Absolutely. Yeah, if my father built a small house, I'll build a bigger one. If my parents sacrificed so that I could run, I will honor them by sprinting. And that's what we should do. Because we come from different starting points, you know, and don't feel ashamed about it. You know, when you do not know yourself and when you do not have purpose, you need other things to reaffirm you. You know, you need when you do not have substance, I need the money shirt to feel like a person. And that's why I'm saying we need a drastic culture change in the black community.
