If you're in your 20s, I have some advice for you. I've got a 23-year-old son, I work with 20-year-olds daily, and about 600 years ago, I used to be a 20-year-old. So, here is my advice. Don't worry if you don't know what you are going to do with your life. I know some 50-year-olds, some 60-year-olds, some 70-year-olds that don't know what they want to do with their life. Don't rush to go to university. It is not a necessity. If all your friends are going to university, it does not mean you need to. Most people who have a university degree don't use it. You don't need a gap year to find yourself. You can 'find yourself' whatever that means in a weekend. Just because your dad is a doctor or just because your mum is a lawyer, does not mean you need to follow in their footsteps. It's your 70, or 80, or 90, or 100 years. So you do what you want to do. Just because someone has been in a job for 30 years, does not mean they are going to do it better than you. They might have one year of experience 30 times over. They are not better than you, just because they have been there longer. And don't let them tell you otherwise. Do not buy a new car. Buying a new car is the dumbest purchase you could possibly ever make. As soon as you get the keys, as soon as you drive out of the dealership driveway, you immediately lose at least 20% of the value. Don't get into debt. Do not go into dumb debt. If you can not afford to make the purchase, then don't.
