Stop saying "No" to your kid’s requests—at least, not like that. 🛑 Ah, the "No" trigger. 🫠 You say it, they lose it, and suddenly you’re in a standoff that nobody asked for. Look, setting boundaries is non-negotiable, but how you deliver them is everything. If your kid treats "No" like a personal attack, try trading the "slam-the-door" response for a "crack-the-door" strategy: Try these "crack-the-door" alternatives: ✅ "Let me check my calendar/brain and see what’s possible." ✅ "That’s a 'not right now,' but let’s put it on the list for later." ✅ "I can't do [x], but I can do [y]." This is Redirect, Don’t Reject. You’re holding the boundary while keeping the connection alive. Want to build a whole toolkit of these strategies? My full library of guides and workbooks is designed to help you navigate boundaries without the chaos. Start building your strategy via the link in the comments below. I’m Dr. Mark Bowers.
