I’ve been having so much fun doing these shorter haircuts lately! They remind me of the ’90s, and I always love seeing how much movement and softness can be created. Liliana came in ready to chop her hair off, and I immediately got excited because she has such great features for short hair! She mentioned that she had a bixie before, but that it felt too mushroomy or chunky on top. This is something I hear all the time. People often think they don’t look good with short hair, but a lot of the time there’s just too much weight sitting in the wrong places. One of my favorite things about razor cutting is that I can remove bulk without thinning the hair. I call it “taking the meat out of the sandwich.” You’ll see me do that a few times in this video. It creates petals in the haircut so the hair can move and makes it much easier to get those little flips and kicks that I talk about all the time. Her hair was already pretty short, but it felt heavy at the bottom. Seeing her light up after we took some of that weight out was definitely my favorite part. I styled her with a little @Hairstory Studio Hair Balm and used one of my favorite tricks for bangs. I hold them down while blow drying but let the ends bend and flip. It’s such an easy way to get those little pedals around the face. If you’re curious about learning to razor cut your own hair, I have classes on my website where I walk you through everything step by step.
