If you're building an app right now that allows users to sign up with Google, for example, they can sign in with Google here instead of signing up with their email. What happens if you sign out of their account and resign in with a different way, for example, just their email? Through the method that I just described and find two entries in your database, you have a big problem. Now, Steven has account split up into two sign-ups. He's essentially has two accounts. One for when he signs up with Google, another for when he signs up with email. To prevent this from happening to you, I recommend using Clerk as your authenticator because it's more than authentication, it's complete user management. So what that means is Clerk automatically handles the scenario that we just described, whether you sign in with Google, or you sign in with GitHub, or your email, it's all through one account. So that something like this can never happen to you. If you want to find bugs like this in your code, make sure to check the link in my bio and let's schedule a call.
