How to spend 24 Hours in Salem, MA from a local If you're coming to Salem, Massachusetts and you only have 24 hours, here's how I would spend the day in Salem as a local I will start with breakfast at Gulu Gulu Cafe This place is great There's so many options They got vegan stuff, they have gluten-free stuff And it's right in the heart of downtown Salem, so from there you can walk over to Black Craft You can see Nydia, the largest witch in Salem You can grab yourself a coffee The espresso machine is a giant cauldron I get the Crimson Coven, which is a really good tea And from there I recommend just walking up and down Essex Street You can walk down to the witch house, which of course is a must see From there I do recommend doing a little stroll through the McIntyre district for the history You can see the first Church of Salem, the Broad Street Cemetery, Also on this walk is the Ropes Mansion, which is Allison's house from Hocus Pocus, but I just like chilling in the cemetery Anyway, after that I would loop back to downtown and do some shopping I would check out Nocturn on Front Street There are so many shops in Salem, you just got to walk around and see them all Die with your boots on on Church Street is one of my favorite, it's like goth heaven You know, we've gotten a decent amount of walking in here, so we're going to go have lunch now at the Hawthorne Hotel is a 100-year-old hotel It is the most haunted hotel in Salem, and the lunch at the tavern is so good Again, tons of options for everybody The food is great and honestly, what's better than eating lunch in a haunted hotel in Salem, Massachusetts? Even better, it's right across the street from the Witch Museum, which you can check out, but my personal favorite museum is the Witch Board Museum, which has more Ouija boards than you've ever imagined And the owner, John, can tell you everything you've ever wanted to know about Ouija boards, but we're afraid to ask After that you can do some sightseeing, maybe the Old Town Hall I really recommend going to the Witch Trials Memorial just to pay your respects to the tragedy that happened here And there is also a cemetery next to the memorial, the Charter Street Cemetery And literally right next to that is the Salem Witch Village Again, there's a lot of cool shops here like the Lost Library which has this giant pumpkin Honestly, this whole store is just a vibe, but the Witch Village has a lot of little shops, a lot of museums Now, if you want a really cool souvenir from your trip to Salem, I recommend going to Haus Witch It is a great store, has things for everyone They have in-house spell kits But get your aura done and you have your own personal rainbow to take home Now for dinner I'm going to give you two options If you want something more fancy, I recommend Get the popovers and thank me later Now, again, it's kind of the upscale fancy dinner if you want something a little chiller I recommend All Souls Lounge They have great cocktails, mocktails The spinach dip is also incredible And it's all grilled cheese and hot dogs, and they can all also be made vegan After eating all that food, we're going to go walk it off We're going to go down to the wharf Again, a ton of cool shops down here like Coven There's the cauldron black, which is my favorite witchy store The ossuary, if you know you need a goth ball gown to go to a vampire ball or something And again, the wharf has a ton of history The friendship of Salem, which is this giant pirate ship, is sometimes parked in the wharf After that, maybe take a stroll through Salem Common Now, if you're coming on a weekend, you can get a little sweet treat at night at Goodnight Fatty's These are amazing cookies It is a secret menu, so the cookies change every week But that's how I would close out the night in Salem eating cookies in front of the Witch Museum And that's all I got for you, friends I'll see you in Salem
